Default What was Ford thinking?

Been on the forum for a while, first post.
I purchased 05 F150 XL Reg cab 4X4 with 21 k miles two months ago. Why would Ford put a center console without any cup holders or an opening to put your stuff in? I love everything about this truck. It is very comfortable and drives fantastic. I see that the XL does not have this option, but why? Does anyone know.

i have the same truck except a supercab. my center console is basically a padded armrest. ford did throw in 2 cup holders but they're on the floor, over the tranny hump. not as nice as having them within easy reach. don't know why they do this, but i agree on the overall comfort of these trucks.

Not sure why it was done like that, but that doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

Yea mine is just a padded armrest. The cup holders on the floor cause a lot of reaching and the far right one does not take the same size cup because of the dash

Default They were thinking...

That you'd buy the XLT next time for about $2500 more.

Great marketing huh? $2500 for two cup holders...

yeah, I got a 5spd so I only get one cupholder. I've been looking on ebay for an armrest with the cupholders in it, but they're going for over $100 a piece. but thats what i get for being cheap and buying an xl...

i like the xl trim, just because i'm not really a creature comfort kind a guy, the way i look at it is more stuff to break, and when you live 285 miles from the nearest ford dealer, the less stuff to break the better.

My Lariat has massive storage in the armrest. CD's, kleenex, books, bread boxes and still room for my sunglasses. It is almost to big because it is like a suitcase, everything you need is on the bottom.
