Well went to the credit union. All the lady asked me if I work for more than a year. Thats all and I just got the job a few weeks ago. So she said no and she said to ask my dad to call in and I will be the secondary. That won't happen because my parents owe money:/ I was planning to keep the truck for a loooong time. I guess I'll look for a ranger now. Something thats cheap, cheap on gas, and 4x4 for work and fun so yeah I'm looking for one of those now. I wish I was getting paid more but nope. Thanks to everyone for the suggestions!

I would stay away from lifted/modded used trucks, especially 10 years old. Who knows who did the work or how many different guys had their hands on it. Look for something clean and stock

Unless you are looking at the 4 banger ranger it won't net you much better MPG although the initial purchase should be a bit cheaper.

Thats a good idea. My dad bought a 1 year old ranger for less than my 4 year old f150 lol

Yeah now that I've heard that the ranger would get around the same mpgs as an F150 I am still wanting an F150.

They will get a little better mpg. Maybe 20 hwy if you baby it where the f150 would net 17/18 hwy if babied. Real world probably a 2 mpg difference in favor of ranger. But ranger is very outdated....

Even if I don't want to admit it, that is a problem in a way

I was thinking the same thing. "Too many hands in the pot," as they used to say. I hope he can keep looking. It's a tough break when you're young and just starting out but need a truck. I would budget everything out before hand it know just how much it would cost every month (payments, insurance, etc.) Insurance alone can kick you (so I would start with research on blogs, sites like http://www.insurancetoad.com/auto-insurance/ , etc.) . If your parents were willing to help with the truck, maybe they will consider a family insurance plan as well, at least until you're 21? (I know for a lot of people that's stretching it, but it never hurts to ask. Don't give up though, I still think if you plan you can find the truck you can afford for the next few years and won't have to settle.
