So I'm climbing out of my truck and go to hang my sunglasses on my rear view mirror and notice this black box with wires leading to the mirror, at first I thought it had something to do with the auto-dimming feature. But then noticed the sensor on the back of the mirror itself. I've looked in the owners manual and can not figure out what this thing is for, it even has a button on it, but when I press it I do not notice anything that happens. Some one please inform me what this is so I can sleep good tonight lol.

 

I am almost positive it is the compass

 

Then what is the button on it for?

 

pretty sure its the compass and the thermometer

 

Thermometer is located in front of radiator.Good question ive never seen a mirror like that. It might be an aftermarket mirror with a gps locator in it.

 

No I have the same one and I don't no what it is prob compass and temp and auto dimming mirror or something like that

 

Power to the compass autodimming mirror.

 

It's a compass the button is a reset for your zone of the world for the magnetic deflection

 

Well I appreciate the info. I've never even noticed the thing before and it was bugging me.

 

Thats where the 4-wheel drive engages. I have one on mine too.
