Default weights hitting calipers.

my weights are hitting the calipers. the shop told me that in a short amount of time the weights will smooth out and stop hitting the calipers. is this so or should i take a grinder and take a little off the weights?

Go to another shop to get your tires balanced. Weights should never hit anything.

How are wheel weights hitting your calipers when theyre supposed to mount to the outside edges of the wheel? Doesnt make sense.

On custom rims, a tire shop will use weights that adhere to the inside of the rim, to prevent an "ugly" lead weight on the outer side.

I too would take my business elsewhere, as the weight that is being ground or worn off is going to effect the balance of the tire/rim. You may soon experience bouncing at speeds (your steering wheel will shimmy), or worse, the tire may wear (show signs of cupping).

The shop is right though....the weights will smooth out after awhile...they will wear down as the caliper keeps hitting them, but then you wheel will not be balanced no longer.
