You don't have a coil spring in the front by technical standards as that is more commonly referred to as a separate part. In this instance we have a coil over shock that is very much like a strut design.

The argument over what you have in parts moot point. You have a service writer or assistant writing things up, not likely a mechanic. The service writer may have some knowledge but it is usually limited in most places. This is also why you see a double charge for labor as they are not aware of what has to come apart to change parts.

1) It definitely isn't a moot point since it's a Ford dealership and a Ford service center and they should know and clarify their stuff

2) The service writer and customer service lady should have the correct information before quoting me a price for labor, as anyone who does not know that this is a double charge would probably pay for it

The whole thing is just a big communication failure and lost them a service customer.

That comes to $3460. Holy cow. So much of that labor cost seems to assume just one part is being replaced....when they're all coming off anyway.

For $950 and a day of work, I did all that plus stabilizer links and inner/outer tie rods with Moog and Monroe parts. $100 for an alignment. Rides like new.

Are you considering doing it yourself? It's a big job. I'll farm some things out from time to time.....special tools or learning curve, some costs are tough to choke down.

I just added up everything minus the LCA(not needed if you replace the ball joint) and it came to $500-650 depending on shock/strut quality and a day under the front end, not including a RockAuto 5% off code.

Definitely going to do it myself, I just don't know when yet. I did the tie rods already because one of them failed inspection last month, so that's something I no longer have to worry about when this repair comes time.

I got something similar. I balanced both RockAuto and Amazon and I think it came to around $700 because I threw some other things in to do, and that includes shipping. I have a RA 5% coupon around here somewhere...

LOL, sounds like you created a bunch of busy work for a dealer you never planned to use anyway. And then bitch about it.
