Default vct solenoid screen broken...

I am currently in the process of locking out my phasers. I noticed when I pulled out my VCT solenoid that one of the screens is broken off. because I am locking out my phasers and reprogramming the computer can I leave the vct solenoid just the way it is?

I'd be more worried about where the screen ended up

Agreed. If you can find the screen, then don't worry about it. The most common places I've heard of them getting stuck, are inside the solenoid, and inside the solenoid valve body (I think that's what it's called, just poured coffee and brain no good work yet).

If I take the valve body off can I reuse the gasket between the valve body and engine? And should I remove all of the screens just to be safe? I'm worried more will break off.

When you say "valve body" everyone here starts thinking about your transmission... you mean VCT solenoid body?

If you have new gaskets you should use them but I'd reuse them if they look like they're in good shape... one of the only ones I'd reuse ever

As long as you're keeping that oil super clean, which I know you are, right? it should be fine

I decided not to take the solenoid body off because I already installed my phasers and chains and I'll just take a chance that its just stuck in the body.....or maybe it's already disintegrated itself and its mixed in the oil. I really don't want to pull the phaser and buy another bolt.
