The rear has shocks and the way I 'grew up' around cars/trucks the front has a strut merely because it has one eyelet on the bottom... but hey, I could be wrong about this as well. No offense to any one either!

It's a shock, I work for a body shop. You have a shock inside the strut.

And Mossy Oak if you look at it that was my truck has zero shocks.

Let me solve this one for you guys. The Ford diagram calls it a shock absorber.

but a bad shock wouldn't cause your truck to sit lower..the spring may be sagging a bit. how much do you weigh?

shock... strut... as long as you know what I'm talking about. I didnt mean to stir anything up by that.

Chelios - I'll keep in mind about the spring too. If I'm in the truck or not, its still droopy in the front ! ha ( I weigh 170 fyi)

A Strut is usually incorporated into the steering of the vehicle but can also be used in the rear wich is sometimes called a Chapman strut.

A Shock is in a fixed position and merely travels up and down regardless of how it mounts.

Monroe and Rancho calls it a strut. Go figure. I guess its open to interpretation.

This is what I go with.
Can't argue with the makers.
