Default Two questions.

The basics: '07 F-150 XLT, V6, RWD, regular cab, 49K on it. Done a search on both with out any luck.

First issue I'm guessing is fairly normal, but wanted to make sure. The AC blows cool, but not cold when idling. Then when driving, it blows mostly cold and sometimes cool. I'm guessing the latter is due to the compressor cycling, but wanted to check. I still have an extended service contract, but like to do a bit of research before paying $50-100 to have the dealer find nothing.

Second issue is a rattle that happens primarily in the front right while at idle. Not constant...rattle for a few seconds, go away, come back, go away, etc. Never really notice when driving. I did have the dealership look awhile back and they claimed it's some sort of loose bolts that are left overs from assembly (when the engine is put in). Anyone know of this?

Thanks in advance for any help!

F150s are known for blowing not so cold air at idle. However it should be cold when driving. Perhaps you need a recharge, although it seems unlikely at 49k.

As for your rattle, could be anything really. But the dealers explanation is just downright laughable.

My air sucks **** when idling. But when I move it's all good!

I work at a dealership as a tech. The 4.2 v6s have a condition where the lifting brackets for the engine either crack around the nut holding them on or the stud breaks off. At idle the engine vibrates more than when you're going down the road, that's why you don't always hear it. Removing the brackets solves the problem. They just didn't do a good job explaining it to you.

Actually, that's pretty close to how they explained it to me. I just did the poor job of explaining! ha ha!

Could you tell me how to remove said brackets? Or, really, where they are? I'm assuming they're just bolted on and pretty easy to remove...I just don't know where they are. Thanks!

As for the AC, sounds good! Thanks!

They are black brackets with a large hole in each. They are on both sides one side will be towards the front of the engine and the other would be to the rear. If I'm remembering correctly they bolt on to studs on the exhaust manifolds. The nuts are 13mm I think, just remove the nuts and then remove the brackets. If there was one in the shop I'd send you a picture, but we're slow right now.

Not sure about the V6 but the 5.4 3V is notorious for having heat shields that start to break loose and rattle.

Thanks a ton! I'll look for them and I'm pretty sure it's just the front one. At the very least, I'll start there.

In regards to the heat shields, I've already inspected them and they're fine. But thanks!
