I have an 04 f150 fx4 with the factory tow package. I hooked up my boat for the first time and no lights work so I checked the plug for power and I had none in either the 4-pin or the 7-pin. So I got out the manual and checked fuses, fuse 36 and 42(i believe are the right ones) had no power so I swapped them with a different fuse to see if they were any good and they were still good. Is there another fuse or relay somewhere I am missing to get power to those two fuses so the power can be relayed back to the plug??

 

I am not sure on the newer trucks, but on my 98 i had the same problem. there is a small fuse box under the hood on the drivers side that ran the trailer lights. Maybe one uder there is blown(if the newer trucks are similar)

 

I checked under there all I find is a 5 amp fuse I was told there is a twenty amp fuse somewhere but I can't find it

 

Please any more help would be great

 

I had a similar problem with one of the trailers I used to pull for work. Went through my whole truck, everything checked out. Ended up taking it to a shop, where they found out one of the wires had been worn through, preventing the whole system from working. Are you sure the trailer wiring is good - has anyone else pulled it recently?

 

Yes my dad hooked his truck up to the trailer right after and everything worked fine.

 

On my 06 xlt I had a relay and a fuse

 

I had a relay and a fuse that came in a bag with my brake controller adapter plug,
and I had to in stall them under the hood in the fuse box in the engine area. The book showed me where to put them.

 

Fuse 36 and 42 covers the right and left turn signals for the trailer plugs. Fuse 10 is a 20A fuse that covers the trailer parking and reversing lights. In addition, there is a seperate relay for the trailer parking and reverse lights. If you can't figure it out, PM me and I can provide the wiring schematic.
