Default Tpms

Has anyone been able to switch over the 2009+ tpms sensors on an 08? There about $50 cheaper than the band sensors, and i like the fact that there valve stem sensors not the goofy band ones.

My tire shop replaced the band type sensors with the value type sensors in my 08. The model # on my report is 08002HPR 315MH sensors. I paid $60CDN ea for them installed. I know that the factory 2009+ sensors will not work. I bought the rims off a 2011 FX4 and they could not get them to sync.

You need aftermarket if you want to replace the band style with a valvestem style. OEM 09+ valvestem style will not work on 07-08 trucks.

Don't go with the grey ones that screw together. Use the rubber pull through style. The grey ones corrode and seize up and are a pain to get apart if that happens. Why are you switching from band sensors?

You're looking for logic on this forum?

Need to read more posts. People do what they want to do, most of the time it makes little sense...

My son lifted his 2016 Lariat and put aftermarket wheels and tires on it. Brought his stock 20"s over and put them on my 2014 Lariat. Mine had 18"s. Of course I got the TPMS Fault signal and I went through the "Train" procedure with no joy. The session times out while I'm letting air out of the first tire, during the procedure.

Any ideas as to why these stock 20"s can't be "Trained"?

Thanks

First, you're on the 2004 - 2008 section of the forum, asking about why 2016 sensors won't train on your 2014...

Answer is, as is posted frequently on the 2015+ section of the forum (and also the 2009 - 2014 section) is that Ford CHANGED THE SENSORS in 2015. So, you can pull off your son's tires, pull the sensors out of your 18s, and put them in, or buy sensors. Give the 2016 sensors back to your son, who likely has the same issue.
