Default towing again

I have a 2007 f150 king ranch with fatory towing package.

I never haved towed with it but i am buying a utility trailer next week. 16 ft tandem axle with one axle having brakes.. My truck has the 7 pin and the 4 pin plug. The trailer will have a 7 pin plug

questions.

1 My lights should work OK, witout doing anything is that correct?
2 I will need to buy a brake controller....and should my truck have come with a harness in a bag for the controller?

Thanks for the help

your lights should work perfectly if the pins are the same. they are pretty universal just so long as it hasnt been modified for any reason. i dont think the 07's came with the integrated break controller i know the superduty's do. you should have a harness in a little plastic bag that is in the glovebox. if not then youll have to buy one.

its a piece of cake buy a decent brake controller and use the harness in the bag fallow the instructions with the controller and the harness plugs in under the dash.takes about an hour .

i have a truck accessory business, and we sell/install only tekonsha products here. we never have a problem with them, unlike some of the other brands in the past. tekonsha has one called the prodigy, another nice one by them is the P3 if you have a few extra dollars.

I agree with what everyone said, either get a Prodigy or P3. Just make sure you get the Ford install kit and you should be fine. Just remember that when towing you have a MUCH longer vehicle and that everything takes more time/space. Also, try to get in the habit of remembering the trailer is back there. A properly equipped F-150 can make a light trailer seem like it's not there, and it's easy to forget about if you get distracted!!!! And as we all know, that's the time bad things will occur.
