Default Torque Pro identify misfires?

I have a misfire somewhere, and it won't set off any codes. If I bought torque pro, does it have any diagnostics capabilities where I could isolate down to which cylinder it is even though there is no codes?

Short background is I had a misfire, I changed out all the plugs to the new motorcraft P/N, and the misfire is still there. Yes I did it to the best methods and cleaned out every plug hole as well(this would be my 3rd plug change on this truck). I was dumb and didn't replace the boots/springs so I'm in the process of doing that now. In the event I still have some misfires, I want to be able to see where it is. After the plug change it drives almost like it did before, so almost as if the old plugs were not the problem. I've had bad plugs out of the box before, and bad plugs are REALLY bad the truck would buck and barely run. So I don't THINK I have a defective plug, but who knows.

Here's my plan of attack.

1)New boots/springs
2)Diagnose which cylinder is misfiring(Torque Pro?)
3)???

Torque Pro is a great, inexpensivel tool that provides easy and flexible access to standard, mandated OBDII data. It is very probably the BEST tool on the market for allowing customization to include indefinite inclusion of custom parameters into its capability. If you are inclined to tap into that power by adding PIDs and Formulas, or importing additional custom PIDS, check out the various dashboards in this link:

The Misfire dashboard contains a link to a post on the Torque Pro website which has ALL the PID parameters that can be manually as well as a CSV file that can be downloaded and imported into your Android device to display active misfire data per cylinder.

That’s great. I think I will buy it now with the Bluetooth obd adapter.

I think I may have a problem though since I have an IPhone. I searched in the App Store and there are several scan and diagnostics tools but I don’t think torque pro is one of them.

Do you know of an IPhone compatible app that would show the same data as torque pro?

Nevermind, my bro is giving me his old android. Problem solved.

You will find under test results the reports by cyl of raw computer counts going towards setting a code . It gives you the maximum needed also . Zero is achievable. This test is also known as mode six .
Plugs should be torqued 25 to 28 foot pounds . But also I would try to clean carbon out of tip area with carb cleaner as the carbon is not good and can break plugs going in . I still use nickel anti- seize on tip and a tiny amount t on threads , but only nickel will stand up to the heat . You can get nickel on amazon
Yes boots are ignored all the time .Use a very small amount of dielectric grease smeared around in the ends of the boot ,it will help it seat to porcelain .It also stops it from heat seizing . Oil,dirt, heat, age, antifreeze makes them go bad . dirt in grease is bad .
Connectors on cops and injectors must lock on . Clean all cop contacts real well they get corroded esp high volt tab .
I don't know what year it is, but 05 era had bad injectors which could also leak and hydro lock engine .If all else fails you may need to build a you tube injector cleaner . Of course there are valves involved and if a roller is badly worn at the center it will wobble . Roller can be popped out with screw driver and replaced if done carefully . One of my no 8 rollers popped out when it went bad . luckily it missed cam .

Cool, I can't wait to try this thing out.

Bought this OBD reader, was recommended as the best by Torque Pro website.

Not a bad choice by any means but a bit pricey.

I've been using one like
THIS THIS
for over 5 years with no problems.

I know you've ordered already, but may give thought to others who read this thread.

In any event, you're going to benefit greatly from the data that will now be at your fingertips.

Good info. I bought the "high end" one because I always justify my vehicle purchases as "this still costs way less then bringing it to the shop." Also it says it's the fastest data read and also supports FORD and GM CANBUS. I have 2 GM vehicles as well and thought that may be helpful one day.

I just bought a new to me 2015 Tahoe LTZ that has way more fancy electronics than my F150 it's dizzying. I plugged my scanner in and it says there are 2 ECM's on board. If that truck ever has issues it would be great to have these tools. But I think these newer cars are more of a remove and replace vice repair anymore. If the lane keeping goes out, replace module. etc etc.

I have one branded BAFX I think. It was cheap and works well.

A quick TIP. Torque Pro supports multiple vehicle 'Profiles'. I always recommend users leave the "DEFAULT" profile alone (to use if you use it on a neighbor's car or friends oddball vehicle). Set up a "Profile" for your truck, and one for wife's car and any other family vehicles. In each profile, scroll down to advanced settings and 'Check' the box for Use Separate Dashboard. This way, custom PIDs you set up for your ford (which most likely are not same PID # for your GM or Pontiac) will not garbage up dashboards with gauges that don't work on the other vehicles.

It is like having a separate custom Scanner for each vehicle.

Default Because of Torque and Red I've been using it for several years...

Fantastic app.....use it every single time the engine is on. TorquePro is how I knew my original engine had finally hit the wall.....at 276k.
TP alerted me that my engine was misfiring like a slot machine at hot idle. Bear in mind I could NOT feel or hear them. So I instituted my long thought out plan to drop a reman in and keep on trucking. Fantastic app.....
