Default Tire Question

I am currently running 275/55/20 scorpion pirrelli ATR tires. I have to replace my back tires soon and i was wondering if i can make an improvement. these tires run at least $250 each. I was wondering if there are any other tires i can use, maybe bigger, or something, not to familiar in the tire world.

I want a good street tire, very little racing, prolly gonna be peeling out in them on occasion, but i also want a tire that will be able to do very minimal off roading (after all it is a truck) I dont go offroading, but if someone pisses me off, I would like to be able to go around them whether it be a street, dirt, rocks, etc.

If there is a cheaper better tire, please let me know. If there is a much better tire for about the same price let me know as well. I want the best bang for my buck.

TireRack.com has good reviews of tires by many people. Go there and type in your truck type or tire size and it will list many options - clicking on a tire will pull up info and a rating chart for that tire - click on the chart and you will see it ranked among similar tires.

FYI those tires are cheap. when i bought them new i paid around 125 a piece installed. you can get a set shipped for 550 from discount tire, cheaper ones out there, on ebay they have new takeoffs also.

you can go with a taller tire if you level it, or maybe squeeze a 275/60/20 on there. if you were to level it, you can get the 275/65/20 goodyear wrangler for real cheap, they are what f250's came with it

treadepot.com is a good place to buy tires also, they have 275/55/20's for under 100 a pop, check it out

everyone has certain tires for a reason, IMO the pirellis are junk and worthless, but i live in WI and use my truck as a truck, so street tires will not suffice.

If it helps, I have 285/50/20's on my truck. Got them from discounttire.com called Road Hugger believe there made by Goodyear. Grips the road wether its dry or wet. Had them on for 3000 miles now and no problems yet.
