Default Timing components

I've got attached motorcraft timing kit for my 04 fx4 scab with the 5.4 3v. New chains, tensioners, guides, phasers, and crank sprocket. Decided not to tackle this job myself. How many hours should it take an independent shop to install everything? Thanks in advance

10-12 hours book time on labor. Then you got rack time and other expenses etc etc

I think 10-12hrs sounds fair. Mine took me 16hrs and I was taking my sweet time with beer breaks. If you have the time I'd do it yourself. It's really not that hard just time consuming.

yea if I had the time I would do it but I dont. I will probably drop it off while I'm on vacation. How has your truck been since the timing overhaul?

It's never ran as good as it does right now. I've noticed a significant power increase and it idles absolutely smooth as silk . I used all Ford parts from crank gear to phasers. I also did new OEM VCT solenoids. I've got a lot of labor invested in this truck and I'm happy with it.

yea i can't wait until mine is done. Everything I bought is motor craft I've already replace the VCT solenoids with Motorcraft and it didn't help very much

Mine runs great also... I used everything MC except the timing parts. I was pretty confident in Cloye's design and construction, so I used their kit. No regrets so far at 3 years and 35K later. I also had to have a new cam on the pass side with a few lifters and lash adjusters.

Wishing you a trouble free repair!
