Tick, Tick, Tick
I have a 2005 Ford F150 with a 5.4 Triton motor. There is a considerable loud ticking on the passenger side of the motor. Here is all the work and parts that has been done to date:
Locked out Cam Phasers
Replaced Lash Adjusters and Roller Arms on passenger side.
Replaced Timing Chains, Chain Guides, Hydraulic Tensioners, Crankshaft Gear.
The ticking is still present after these repairs which consisted of 3 separate tear downs at the dealership. They also preformed an isolation test on each cylinder but it did not help. I have been told it is not an exhaust leak. I also have been told that it may need a new head but they are not sure that will solve the problem, also not sure why a new head if the isolation tests didn't isolate cylinder. Same tick when cold as when hot. Dealership has been good, not charging me labor costs. Need help.

I literally just got back from meeting with a mechanic. I have the same problem (2008 5.4) that is very loud under the hood and noticeable outside. The guy said he's going to check my injectors and run some tests and clean them up. He said injectors will also cause your engine to idle rough, which mine does. I have an appointment on Tuesday, I'll let you know how it goes after that. Hopefully this helps.
