The oil from the KandN will gunk up your TB... just my two cents.

MAF and TB cleaner was under 15 bucks... not sure on what a new TB cost, but its got to be cheaper.
Total bunk that a K&N will gunk a TB. Go to K&N's site. They will pay for a new TB or MAF if you send yours in and it's proven that the filter gunked it. To date, NO ONE has ever had a TB or MAF damaged in any way from a K&N filter. I've run a K&N for over 7 years on a Harley (Harley has 123,000 on it's engine) and 5 years now on my 2005 Ford F150 with 89,000 on its odometer. My original TB and MAF are still intact and the truck runs perfectly; neither have been removed and had to be cleaned.

People need to stop the lies and rumors about this nonsense.

Remember, flash the PCM back stock before going to the dealer. Code "throttle body related"?

hate to be the antagonist but my mechanic says they see messed up MAFs all the time because of High flow filters around here. The biggest thing they see is typically user error but still on occasion its purely from the filter. The one problem most of his customers have is because of all the dust in AZ air the filters will let it through and it will foul up the MAf and rarely the TB (indirectly). The only direct cause he said that they had seen was with new filters or recently oiled filters the oil can get blown off the filter and onto the MAF and foul it up.

throttle actuator control system is what the code specifies.
I was merely too lazy to look it up again last night.
however if I'm not mistaken it still has to do with the throttle body right?

I can see this maybe causing a problem if you use a whole can of oil on the filter. I have had mine on for almost 2 years and have had no problems. How does it “foul" your throttle body?? If you service the filter properly it shouldn't cause any problems. I drive about 10 miles a day on a dirt road and when I clean my filter it is filthy and that shows it is doing it job.

I wouldn't say it gunks it up, but there is definitely a lot of dust that gets through. Even in cleaning my TB when I removed the housing for the air filter I found dust after where the air filter is cleaning the air, and I mean a disturbing amount of dust not just a little bit. for me high flow filters seems to mean while it lets in more air it's also letting in other stuff that isn't so great for the truck.

Its starting to make sense a bit more now that you mention what the code is. If the code is for the throttle actuator, that may be why you noticed the butterfly not closing completely when you had the tb off. I would look into the possibility of replacing the throttle actuator control and go from there.
