Is your truck a 4,6 or 5.4? The 4.6 is suppose to have a low idol.

it is on and still low idle, although I would think it would be higher since its partly open to begin with.

The dealer quoted me $85 to update it, basically for an hour worth of a mechanics time. When I got there I started just chit chattin with the service manager that quoted me that and anyway he gave it to me for $66....Mine PCM had like 7 updates to it and one was for the rough idle that can happen with the 04's

it seems like the low idle would be a tuning issue or something else, not a problem with the tb. But thats just my speculation. put it back to stock and try getting it reflashed at the dealership.

If you can adjust the idle up with the edge, and it runs good otherwise, I would just do that. I noticed when I first loaded my performance tune onto my truck the idle would drop down when turning at slow speeds (mostly in reverse) and almost die. I adjusted it ever so slightly and haven't had a problem since.

well the thing is, I haven't had any problems except once while running it with the programmer. Here's the thread that explains it
https://www.f150forum.com/f4/stupid-p-t-s-74572/
basically in 2wd I hit a bump and the PATS shut off my truck
Hit the inertia switch a couple times and it came back to life
however I ran a check for DTCs on my edge and got P2072 which is throttle body related. Once I restarted the truck I flipped it into 4hi and no more PATS shutting my truck off. However I'm now afraid to go on simple trails for fear of my truck doing something worse, which has prompted me to search for the answer for whats going wrong.

Well, that's beyond me then. Sorry, sounds like your best bet, if you can afford it, is to take it into the dealership and maybe see if they can diagnose the exact problem.
