Thinking of buying

Thinking of buying
So a friend of mine is offering me his 05 FX4 scab with 43K miles for 15K. This seems like a good deal to me. He is very good with maintenence but I need to know the correct questions to ask. After all day on the forum these are the things I have come up with.
-Have the plugs been changed?
-How are the cam phasers?
-Have the brakes been worked on?
Is there anything else I need to look at? Are there any other problem spots for these trucks? Does this seem like a fair price?

I know he is your friend and all, and I mean no disrespect, but I think that is too much to ask for. Not only in today's economy for one....I bought my 06 XLT Texas Edition for $16,100 and it only had 18K miles...Granted they gave me a good deal because gas was like 4$ here in TX...but still, I think 15000 is too much for it.....Just my opinion though.

While I think it's a decent deal on a truck I'd rather not buy items like that from friends or family.
Business transactions of this sort have torn apart many friends and family if there is something wrong with the vehicle or whatever.
I also won't sell a car to a friend or family member.

$15k is less than what you paid for a truck that is a year newer and a lower trim level. Miles doesn't mean a whole lot on these trucks anyway. I know things might be a little different in your area, and the op's area, than from me but when I bought my 04 FX4 last year with just under 80k on the clock it booked for $18,900. Truck sales were doing well, so they didn't budge much on the price, but did give me a little more for my trade in.
As far as buying it from a friend, I see zero problems with this. Get the documentation and a loan or pay cash. Don't try to work out some pay as you go deal. That will get you in trouble. I have bought and sold several vehicles to family and friends.

Just pointing out that depending on his area, that doesn't sound like a bad price to me. I paid more for my 04... for what it's worth. Although mine is a SCrew.
