Default Thermometer

Now that I have the bulb replaced at the odometer/compass/thermometer, I can see them. Now I have a question. Where is the sensor for the thermometer? And does the thermometer show the real ambient temperature or the temperature influenced by the wind-- wind chill factor idea. Not that I can change it , just wondering.

Not sure where the thermometer is located but it's pretty close to ambient temp. Usually within a degree or two of what bank signs show.

Then the sensor must be enclosed somewhere. What is in the bulb like projection on the pax side to the cab roof?

It's in front of the radiator behind the grille and wind chill only affects warm blooded creatures, not machinery.

That's usually a Surius radio antenna if I'm not mistaken.

thanks, just found some info but not very precise. Not that I need that info really! "In front engine compartment". So moving wind on a regular outdoor thermometer will not affect the reading? I was always a bit skeptical of wild chill factor readings anyway, if it is 30 degrees with a 25 knot wind blowing , it is still 30 degrees.

when it's 30* outside and the wind is blowing 25 mph in your face... It's a feels like temp. it feels colder. It's still blowing 30* temp in your face. What you should ask is.. does the heat from the engine compartment effect the temp reading.

What direction does the fan(s) pull/push air flow? Towards the front or rear?

Now you understand why they put that sensor out in front of the radiator.
