Default Switched power for GPS

OK, I have searched and i know the options most of you would suggest if i just ask for switched power: radio, ignition, or back to fuse box. I was just curious if anyone had any source of switched power on the driver side that IS not currently used for an important function such as ignition. i plan on using t-taps to tap into power and then into a new 12v power outlet to power my gps which i like on driver side. I just don't like the idea of tapping into my ignition. so far i thought about the trailer brake controller harness but thats always hot. also there is wiring for movable brake/gas pedals but that is also always hot, until in drive( i believe) just curious if anyone has info.

There is no switched ignition power source on the drivers side (other than the starter switch). The closest one is the radio. Easy to get to; pull the trim ring that surrounds the radio off. There's plenty of space to route a wire to it from anywhere on the dash for your GPS.

Power windows, instrument cluster, and maybe the compass (not sure if it runs on the driver or passenger side up to the module)

i like the idea of the compass but do you know where the wires run along? Haven't looked for the info but figured if you knew where they would it wouldn't hurt to ask

Compass looks like a no go, I tracked down the wiring on the splice locator and it looks like it's running on the passenger's side.

It's part of the Service Manuals, basically a map of the truck showing you where the circuit splices are located.

Honest....your best bet is to tap off of the radio! The fuse rating will support both the radio and your GPS unit, and it's easy to get to.

Thanks to GATORB8 for looking at the Ford schematics. I suppose I should start carrying my copy to and from work every day!
