Superchips/Tranny
I recently replaced the cam phasers, Timin chains, Tensioners, and chain Guides. Totally fixed the diesel ticking. Runs smooth and idles the same way.
It also has new spark plugs, Air filter, tranny filter and oil and new fuel filter.
I installed a Superchips Flashpaq hoping to get a little more engine response, but mainly better transmissiom shifting. I put it on Performance and Superchips shifting. with 93 octane the engine has somewhat better response. But the tranny still seems to be shifting the same.
Normally I am an SCT user as I have one with custom tunes on my 6.4 diesel. But I had a superchips on my 08 5.4, and it really made a difference in the engine response and tranny shifting. I like a firm quick shift.
Superchips said I may need to update the tuner. Anyone have any other ideas? The converter seems to almost release and the engine rev prior to shifting?

What's the mileage on this transmission? Be careful if it's high, as firming up the shifts prevents wear (no slipping for a smooth shift), but if the transmission has some mileage of had some previous issues, you could do it harm by firming up it's shifts.

It has 138k miles on the truck. A firm shift is better on the disks and prevents wear. Only reason vehicles shift smooth is for driver comfort. My 6.4 shifts hard enough to break the tires loose on 2nd gear shift. If it was stock shifting it would have burnt the disks up with 1050 ftlbs of torque. But I agree with what was commented earlier...I should have noticed a difference right away. I will update the tuner and keep this updated with my findings. Its my wifes truck, so I know she could care less about it shifting hard. Lol!
