I'm thinking about two 10" subs under the back seat of my 04 scab, but really don't know where to start. a few questions: 1. where is a good place to get a box, and will i need a seat lift or extra air space due to being ext. cab? 2. will i need shallow mount subs? and if so what would be a good, loud shallow mount? 3. what is the optimum wattage amp to push two 10's with good sound, and what's a good brand for a reasonable price? 4. lastly, what should i expect for an install charge? i don't want to get ripped off... lol

i already had one local shop give me an estimate of around $780 for 2 Memphis 10's under the seat, with install. i don't know if this is a good deal or if i should buy my own parts and find an installer.

any help appreciated, thanks!

edit: don't worry i've already tried the site's search function for this info, i only have my phone app to use and the search on it is not too great.

well here it is first u need to make ur mine up on ur subs then from there u can pick ur amp and then design ur box. the reason y is that u have to match ur subs to a amp u just dont buy an amp it will not work ur **** up **** in the long run. well let me tell u wat i have in my truck i have 2 alpine type rs at 500rms then for amp i have a rockford fosgate and it is a 1000 rms rating. how i get that is each sub has 2 voice coils at 4omh so i parallel them done to get 2 omh. then i take both subs and parallel them down to 1ohm. so i needed a amp that was 1000rms at 1ohm. that is just how to match a sub to amp. to do the box u have to look at the hz and the size the say for the subs. so let me say this in simple way u wat boom or do u wat some thing that sounds good and is worth the money cuz if u want cheap buy a hug *** port and a cheep *** sub and a amp to go wit it and u will have boom but it will sound sloppy but i swear mine will blow urs away if u do that if u need help best thing to do it go to a real audio store not bestbuy they dont no wat they r talken about i use to work there in high school and i was the lead car audio guy and i had to teach every one they dont no **** go to a place that can do it right and u will thank them in the long run even if it cost some money .

alright thanks i didn't know you had to match ohm and all that, i did know the amp rms depends on the subs though. i'm definitely willing to spend a little more for something that doesn't sound sloppy, just not wanting to go too crazy, hopefully keep it under $800. are Memphis audio a good brand? because if so my local shop can install 2 with what they said was a pretty good amp for around $780. should i jump on that deal?

wat amp and wat subs and wat box do ur research look at the info for the sub and then look at ur amp that u want make shore the amp is the same or at a little more then the subs and dont forget to look at the box six to and match a box size to the subs to if u lissen to that u will love the cheapest subs most people dont no how to do it so they think u got to spend a lot of money no u dont u just have to make shore its right its not hard at all. u could be like me and have 3000 dollars in my audio or u can just buy nice stuff and if u want to go cheaper buy the stuff on like u will get it at cost like i did my subs at best buy r 229 i got them for 105 on like the amp was 700 and i got it for 229 that was a total of 440 and i am still way under 780

best thing to do take ur time do the research and if u wat to see mine look at my garage under my photos

I just got done building a box for under the back seat of my 2004 lariat supercab. I put two Rockford fosgate 10" shallow mount subs in it and it sounds great. Got a cheap 400w Sony amp. Sounds awesome

if you don't mind me asking, how much did that cost you, with install wiring and everything?

I have a sealed box underneath my seats with two 10s, and didn't have to have a seat lift. In fact, I don't even have shallow mount subs. You don't have to limit yourself, but you will spend some money. I mounted the amp behind the rear seats on the wall of the cab (you have to remove the rear seats to do that).

Needless to say, it sounds amazing

i'll try to get creative haha. did you have a tire changing kit (or whatever that is) under the back passenger side seat? i know i'll have to remove it, but i don't see how i'd get regular subs under there, it just doesn't seem like much room! got any pics of it under your seat?

I did, and I just removed it... can't use it with my lift and current tires anyway lol.

My subs are DC Audio Level II Competition subs, and they have a mounting depth of 5.5". That's about the max you can get under there.

The key is to get a down-firing box (makes the subs face down instead of up). I'll try and get pics as soon as I can
