I have an 08 F150 it's got the 5.4 with a super44 it, and i have a friend that has an 080 dodge ram with the 4.7 and the super44 on his too. How come his is twice as loud as my f150 when i have a bigger engine?

it is because 5.4s are known to be not loud wat u have to do is take out the cats and that will make them loud

Ok thank you. How much louder will it be if I gut them out? If I gut them out will it be hard to get it inspected?

Depends on how they do inspections where you are. If there is no CEL and they don't look at readiness tests with a scan tool then you will be fine. If they look at the readiness tests and any of them say "Not Ready" then they will either drive it around and try to let the computer run this test or tell you to drive it for a couple weeks and then come back. With gutted cats idk if the catalyst readiness test will pass.

As far as how much louder, it's gonna be like having a piece of straight pipe instead. I've always kind of looked at gutting cats and leaving a big open section in your exhaust as more of a hurt in performance because there is a big void now in your exhaust where your cat was

Don't take out your cats 5.4s aren't suppose to be without cats if anything just do a straight pipe

Agreed. Makes more sense to remove the muffler than the cats for many reasons. You noisy guys stay away from my neighborhood.

Ok thanks for the help everyone. I just wanna make it a liltle bit louder. I still need to get headers for it. I just would hate haveing to get rid of the super44 after paying ove 700 to get it installed. If I made it true dual how would it sound?
