Default Sudden Acceleration

Hey guys,

I have a 2008 Screw 4x4 with 119,xxx miles on it.

I can be crusing around 40 mph and my truck will suddenly get a burst of speed. or i could be just letting off the gas and it will do it. Any ideas on what this is?

bourgeois1269,

Do you think just resetting it could work?

I'll just disconnect the battery for a few min and reconnect it.

Or any other ideas?

Disconnect the negative and while your waiting take your throttle body off and clean it really well, I was making a little joke about the "speed" thing but your situation is crazy. I've never heard of that

Had that problem on an 09 Mustang GT. It was throttle body related. Don't remember if it was the throttle body itself, or the TPS, though.

It's the throttle body my friend but try what I suggested and if that doesn't work find a new throttle body, JUST NOT FROM THE DEALER and do it yourself (very easy)

This. I almost passed out when I saw what the dealer charges for a throttle body, vs what you can find on the interwebs.

Agreed on cleaning the TB and never getting it from the stealership. I love Rock Auto and Amazon for most parts.

Possibly a new TPS (throttle position sensor) but clean the TB first and let us know how that turns out
