So I did a compression test and everything came out fine. I pulled the plug in cylinder 6 and thankfully it was not bent. Got a magnetic tip and dug around inside the cylinder and didn't get anything thankfully.

I was using an autolite plug, I replaced it with a motocraft platinum plug and some dilectric grease on both ends. Put it back together and it sounds much better.

But the tick is still there, though not as severe. So now I'm assuming it must be an exhaust leak.

It sounds to be coming from near the flywheel right near the driver side exhaust manifold/cat area

Could easily be a cracked manifold bolt, not uncommon on these motors.

Dielectric grease on both ends? Please tell me you didn't put some on the spark end? You only need to put a small amount in the COP boot where the top of the spark plug goes into the boot.

Yeah that's what I meant. I'm going to check the manifold bolts tomorrow and see if there is any missing or anything cracked.

If you can't visually see a crack, hook a shop vac up to the tailpipe with the hose blowing into your exhaust and see if you can feel or hear the air escaping from your manifolds/pipes. You can also spray a dish soap/water solution on the area and check for bubbles.

Check both passenger and driver side just to be thorough .

Thank you I am going to check in a bit. I was driving it today and sure enough p0306 came back as pending. I'm not sure what to do now.

I replaced the spark plugs, the coilpack, the injector, compression is good. I'm completely lost. And then it stalled on me while reversing again.

The rpms at idle in park or neutral is at about 800

While in gear it drops to around 500

I'm starting to think the previous owner maybe tuned it or messed with the timing.

I'm thinking maybe I should get a sct tuner. I'm just not sure what model to get and of coarse I want the tubes preloaded.

This is what I'm talking about, it stalled on me 3 times today. And also if you listen closely you can hear the tick as well.
