Default squeek during upshift?

My dad now has a 2007 f150 4x4 with the 4.6 v8. When he punches the gas peddle and the truck downshifts into passing gear, revs up and then shift to the next gear there is a squeek. This same thing happened in his 2001 f150 with the 5.4 engine. he just bought the truck last Friday. Anyone know what this issue is? He took it back to the dealer and told them about it and they pretty much told him that it is the way he is driving it! WTF!!

alright, will check it. But the last pickup we replaced the serpentine belt for that reason and because the belt would squeak occasionally. The belt squeak stopped but the up shift thing still occurred.

I've gotten my truck to do that too. I have the EDGE evolution, and when you set it to stage 2 or 3, since the shifts are quicker and much more firm, if you punch it hard, make it downshift, and then when it upshifts again, I've gotten a quick "squeak" from right in front of me.

Anyway, that's exactly what it is. (belt slip) And I've been told it's not a big deal. It only does it when you have the pedal right to the floormat, and I don't do that often at all.

Is it more of a squeak, or a whistle?

I have an edge evo and I also get a whistle noise from what sounds like the transmission. It sounds like it's coming from under the main console.

it is because the truck shifts so quick the underdrive pulley slows down faster than the belt because the belt has all the energy from the fan and ac and power steering. nothing to worry about. when it starts doing it more often just change the belt.
