Default Spark plug advice

I know there is a lot on this topic and i've figured out that this problem did occur in my engine, (2005 5.4L 3v). I understand that you dont really run into problems with it until 70-80k miles. I bought my truck used with a little under 110k miles on it. From what I see, the truck runs well and has been taken care of, doesn't seem to bog down ever, has the kind of power I'd expect throughout the powerband. I don't have any service records so I don't know if spark plugs have ever been changed. I did buy it from a small dealership. Should I change the spark plugs? If I do are there any things I should do along with it? Coils, fuel tratments, anything just to make sure it's running solid and taken care of. I am already changing all the fluids, again, since I have no records of when they were last changed.

I got my 05 Lariat with 80k on it, and just had the plugs done at 100k. My big question is this: At 200k, are my plugs going to come out without breaking since the dealer used the right kind of anti-seize compound on the new plugs.....One would think that you'll know very quickly if your plugs have been replaced as you begin to back them out.

yes, yes. Some say use a carbon cleaner for the upper cylinder for a couple weeks in the gas tank too. Check around for prices on getting them changed by a mechanic. Contractor I work with had the plugs changed at the local Ford dealer. 7 of 8 broke off, and his bill was $500 including Motorcraft plugs. Not bad considering the $$$ some have said they pay. Many garages won't touch plug changes on your vintage engine.

i know you may have read alot but I had to add this;

I recently (just this week) changed my plugs and coils. I would first recomend getting a quote before doing it. I broke 7 of the 8 and it took me 6.5hrs to do the plugs and coils. I posted the entire story on this forum here is the link. hope it helps.

Thanks for the input that's a lot of good info. I'm not too excited to take this on. I figure I'll probably be soak them in pb blaster for a few days ahead of the change. Is there any downside to oversoaking the plugs, could I damage the engine by getting fluids down in the cylinder?

Ford put out a service bulletin on recommended procedure for plug change on 5.4 engines. Search for it, if I find it I will post it. pb blaster was not in the bulletin.
