Default Simulators

I am not running cats on my truck. I was wondering if the Edge Evolution Programmer will allow my rear o2 sensors to be treated as if I have simulators on it. What would you guys suggest as far as a programmer goes?

The edge won't do anything like "trick" the ECU. The Edge will only reprogram the PCM. If you aren't running cats and have issues I don't thing anything short of a professional tune will do anything. No "over the counter" programmer will make those kind of changes to the motor's brain.

Ok thanks, I'm going to try the plug fowlers but wanted something to fall back on if they didn't end up working besides doing the simulators.

Send your edge to PHP and have them write custom tunes for you. They can turn off the rear O2 in the tune.

Sorry if this is a dumb question but are you trying to fool it so you can pass through emissions testing or something?

If you DO have to do emissions tests, the last thing you should touch is your cats. That's like throwing a red flag and yelling "hey, look at me".

I have an 05 now and haven't really messed with it so I was just asking to find out how these work. On my old 96 F150 I gutted the cat and then welded it back up and it never threw a CEL and it rolled through the emissions tests with no problem. But I assume the newer trucks are more advanced and if you remove or gut the cat the O2 sensor picks that up and a CEL will come on? Sorry to hijack your thread.

I don't have any emission testing, my cats are just plugged. I plan on gutting them and don't want my light to be on.

Well, if you have no emissions tests (I don't either) then gutting the cats would be fine in theory. The truck probably won't run right, MPG will bottom out, and your CEL may come on. That's the only down side. The Maggie's aren't a bad idea, but you can add an "extension" to your O2's to restrict their flow, then they will operate just fine.
