Shaking
Hey guys I have a 2004 F150 and when I get up to about 50 mph my steering wheel and truck starts shaking pretty bad. Once in a while it will actually almost stop but then comes back shortly after. Just wonder what you guys think could be my problem? Tire balance and alignment? Or a suspension component problem? Thanks
does it happen when you accelerate, or just coasting, or all the time over 50 no matter how your driving? does an engine light come on/ blink? Check to see if any weights have come off your wheels, should be easy to tell where one was if you knocked one off.
I feel your pain. I have the exact same problem. Put new tires, rims, road force balanced and still doeshas the exact same vibration. I will be spending all day tomorrow trying to find the cause. Still think its drive shaft related. 2006 4x4 supercrew with 6.5 ft bed.
Same problem here too.
I have rebuild both drive shafts and balanced the tries so far with no success.
I am now looking at engine monts.
I do have a 6" lift on Big
Blue so I am not sure if that has any bearing on the problem.
I am investigating drive shaft phasing also.
Good luck I will be watching your thread.

If it's shaking really bad you might have a bad tire, ie one of the belts is broken. Doesit happen right away or after you've been on the road for a little while and the tires have warmed up.
It happens right away. Once in a while it will not be as bad and then after driving a while it gets worse. Most of the time its just right away though. Some days it's worse than others. Really starting to drive me crazy though. Will be getting new tires very soon so hopefully that will fix it

Spent all day yesterday trying to find the issue and this is what I came up with:
Fist of all, I put new rims/tires on it and no vibe for 3 days. Then it came back so I got the tires road forced balanced and it was smooth as glass for 2 days and then the vibe came back. Put the rear end on jack stands and had the wife hit the gas and get it to 52mph and the vibe was there. Then I took of the tires and had her do it again and there was NO VIBE at all. I took off the Drive Shaft so I could check all the u-joints and all were good.
Conclusion: Something is throwing off the balance of the tires and causing the vibration at least on my truck. If anyone might know what they think could cause the tires to keep losing there balance, please chime in. It's not wheels or tires because it did the exact same thing with the originals on and when I put new wheels and tires on, it does the EXACT same thing with the vibration.
Thanks
