School me on the Edge Evolution
Hey guys, looking to buy an Edge Evolution for my 06 5.4 Lariat. Ran across a craigslist add for a used one near me:

Had a couple of questions before I make an offer or anything:
1) As far as performance mods go, I want to do MBRP catback SI/SO. Would it make sense to do the exhaust or tuner first, and will the exhaust affect the tuner as far as a reprogramming goes? I know a CAI makes it run lean.
2) Are there any known problems with adding the Edge tuner to our trucks, as long as I don't go in and mess around?
3) Is $200 a good deal for a used tuner? Or should I haggle down more?
4) How do I know if a tuner is locked out or not? I don't feel like paying $99 for Edge to unlock it.
I searched the forum and didn't find exact answers, so thanks for any help.

You can add the tuner before or after the exhaust, don't matter. As far as if its locked, when you buy it just hook it up to your truck before you pay and make sure it's set to stock. Also yah 200$ is a good price. They average around 250$ round these parts.
un-locked means set back to stock...when you plug it in look at the number in the upper right corner...if you look at the pic you provided it says 3... you want it to read 0..this will tell you it is set back to stock...you can add the tuner at anytime during your mods. One thing to ask the seller is what color the dash pod is...it may not match your trucks dash color...unless you don't care...but $200 is a good price.
Yes $200 is a good price. I made the mistake of not checking the tuner bc my truck was in the shop when i bought it. Long story short i paid $150 for it then $99 to have it unlocked and they sent me a brand new edge! Which at the end cost me $250 haha.
i don't know of any problems with them , but lots of people say they wreck the transmission. it doesn't but if you already have a trans problem and not know it, it will bring it to light sooner. not too many people don't like the edge and fyi you can convert it to a gryphon at any time in the future and then it allows you to get custom tunes to maximize your gains from any mods
dont worry bout wrecking the trans. the tuner will help the trans out more. cause you can get it to shift harder which is better than the soft shifts when stock. because if i remember correctly, soft shift leaves more time for slippage causing damage. but youll be fine. and $200 is a great price, most do go around 250-300 average used. i luckily got mine for $175 but had to buy a dash pod tho, $22 on amazon tho, not bad. lol. and yea make sure its back to stock before buying or youll be an upset camper lol.
