Default Rough Idle

I have a 2005 F150 XLT 5.4 4X4 truck and have had the following parts replaced by the local Ford dealer:

Tensioner Timing Chains
Belt - Timing
Sensor Camshaft Position
VCT Solenoids
All spark plugs
One coil (cylinder 4)
The usual: air filter, oil etc...

Initially the dealer was just replacing spark plugs but he dropped a piece of the plug down the cylinder hole and the head had to come off. Seemed like a good time to do the timing chains.

I have a rough idle problem especially after engine is warm. The problem is intermittent. I do have a Blue Driver code reader and the truck is not throwing any codes. The reader does not appear to show individual cylinder misfires at least I can't find a screen for that. Thinking of getting Torque Pro.

Do you think installing a set of these: Motor Man Injectors would maybe cure the problem?

Although I have new plugs I do have original coils (Except for one). The dealer said they were fine. Also I still need to change the fuel filter.

Check this out. I just called my local Ford dealer and he said 2005 F150's don't have fuel filters. Huh?

check your throttle body. Mine was disgusting and cleaning it solved the rough idle for me.

I picked up a fuel filter and changed it. I will run a while and see if it makes any difference. Next on my list will be the throttle body.

Also I asked BlueDriver about decoding my mode 6 screen. They said the $53 entry shows misfires and pointed me to this document: Ford Codes

I cleaned the throttle body yesterday. It was pretty dirty. Used a toothbrush and throttle body cleaner. It seemed to help smooth the idle a little. This weekend I plan to clean the MAF sensor and do the re-learn process. I did buy some COP boots and dielectric grease but haven't put them on yet. IF I still have a rough idle after all that I guess injectors are the next step. My Blue Driver Mode 6 has been showing zero misfires last time I checked.

Your BlueDriver pointed you to an excellent document. I recommend EVERYONE have that one for their specific model F150.

I don't know much about BlueDriver capability, but if it gives (or can request it) more beneficial Mode 06 reports on our Trucks are $A1 through $A8, Completion ID $0C. (Misfire Counts for Last/Current drive cycle - or each cylinder). These are the mode 06 queries I used to put together a misfire dashboard in Torque Pro. If BlueDriver allows adding custom PIDs, or if you get Torque Pro, I can provide you a with the PIDs for this screen.

EDIT: Added 'csv' file that can be imported directly into Torque Pro \extendedpids to add these gauges. The 'csv' file is a flat text file - although the extension is an Excel extension. It should not have any Excel bells and whistles. Download to Android device, into Torque Pro's extendedpid folder, as a pure text file with the 'csv' extension. It will then appear in the Add Extended PIDs function.
