Default removing cats

I want to remove the cats on my truck. I have an 06 5.4 so i only have 2. Is there a way for me to remove them without having to put in a whole new pipe? and what do i do about the sensors?

this is just in the idea stage, if i do decide to do it, it might be in a few months or so

im pretty sure there's actually 4. Likewise, you will have a CEL if you gut or remove the forward ones. youre gonna need new piping.

my advice is just get the magna high-flo cats for the down two.

Vehicles today are more computer than engine, I dont really get why ppl think removing the cats are a good idea, whats the purpose, you will def get codes and your truck will not work properly. as stated, get high flow cats or leave them alone.

Big mistake. Big, big mistake. Again, I recommend you use the search and read about this topic; it's been discussed before.

Your truck has 4 O2 sensors; 2 "inboard" in front (at each cat), and 2 "outboard) after the cats. You will mess the readings to the PCM (power control module), and set a code or two. The truck will eventually do to "limp home mode" and run poorly. It would require a special "tune" to fool the PCM in order to bypass the removed cats/ 2 inboard O2 sensors.

Leave them in. You will not gain any real street HP/TQ by removing them. If your after a louder exhaust, change the muffler(s) and go witha set of duals.

Leave the cats in.

You have been a member here long enough to know the answer to that.
