Default Remote Starter - Viper 5701

Good feedback for my other questions:
https://www.f150forum.com/f4/quick-a...tarters-40798/

Now I have another issue. Had this unit instlaled last night by a guy that does it on the side, he used to work for the 2 best local places that do car aftermarket installs but now does it one his own free time.

Issues I am having are small but I need some answers. I cannot get the keypad on the outside of the drivers door to work, well it works but sets off the alarm....

I have the same system... with the same problem! The reason the alarm goes off is because the alarm will trigger with a voltage draw. When you press the keypad the pad lights up and creates the draw. I never really used the keypad anyway so it's not much of a problem for me. The light in the keypad needs to be disabled. That should solve the problem.

Is this a problem with the 5901 as well? I use my keypad and am thinking of the 5901. But this would be a deal breaker.

even if you can turn the key pad light off when it unlocks it will turn the dome light on and set the alarm off. the ford remote start works with the key pad.or some you can program a delay but that is good for the thief to

YES! Your right! I didn't think past the light in the key pad. The lock actuators would set the alarm off too. I guess MarkY has the best suggestion Ask the installer what the fix is. Keep us posted!

I just looked at Viper's web site...At a quick glance you need to be an authorized installer to get to their support page. They have a dealer page, put your zip code in and find the nearest store. Maybe you can get someone there to answer the question if your guy can't help.
