Default Quick ? about remote starters

I have heard both sides to this, but I have a 2007 f-150 and I am getting a remote starter for it, is it possible to hook up the heated seats to the starter as well? I have heard it will work and I have heard the seats are pressure activated

anything is possible with the remote starts auxiliary outputs, some wire, and a relay.

Yes, I understand that, but if the seat needs pressure to actually heat the seat, theres really no relay round that

I don't know if there is a pressure switch but if there is you can either find it and jump it making it irrelevant, or you can bring a parallel power source in and splice it in after the pressure switch.

Since you don't want them on in the summer, I'd install a switch, that would pull power from someplace that is on when the truck is running off the remote start, use that to pull a relay that is wired to a fused source, 16 AWG wire to the relay and then out to the seat, where you can wire it to the element. THis bypasses any factory wiring including time out relays or pressure switches.

Throw the switch when you get out of the truck the night before, along with your heater and you'll be toasty warm when you get in. Just remember to turn the seat off by the switch before you fry your backside.

LOL that would be funny. Travis at KC Auot Sounds said he has a thermomoter he can install too so the seats only kick on when the temp is below X degrees......BUT I really and thinking the seats are pressure activated.....sure you can turn them on and they will say they are working but the seat will not heat unless there is pressure on it

tomorrow morning, start the truck without sitting down, turn the seat warmer on, and go back inside for 5 minutes.

That'll solve that mystery!

True.....I haven't driven it in 4 weeks as I am on crutches from ankle surgery, been riding with the wife, but I will do that tonight and see what happens.

i got a remote start too and I love it! I dont have heated seats but the remote start is one of the best purchases I have ever made. Expecially now its been below 0 in the mornings here in Kansas. Im sure there is a way around it just do some more checking.

the heated seat wiring is in the driver kick panel white with red ,driver side white with yellow, pass seat it is a negative pulse so you can use aux button i use the black green button #2on the ford remote start and the blue white push start after it is started.so you don't need them on in the summer.this is good on all 04 to 08 trucks

I have heated seats in my 04 Lariat. I thought I would be nice and pre-heat the passenger seat for my wife. I pressed the button....the seat heater light stayed on for about 30-45 seconds and then shut off.

So I am guessing there is a pressure switch. Can it be by-passed? I am sure it can. There are several methods I would guess: Using a source from the remote starter brain and a relay, using a by-pass switch as mentioned above, hot-wiring the pressure sensor.

I would imagine a high end pre-seat mode/module, if one exists, would also have a built in thermometer of some sorts so it doesn't kick on when it is warm outside.
