so i finally get my 75w140 syn royal purple to change my rear diff fluid.... (note that ive never had a problem or anyhting).. its just got 53k on it and i want to get all the fluids changed... so i remove the diff covor.. and a metal chunk falls before any fluid..... the fluid had metal shavings like a ****... and theres bits and pieces of the spider gears and speed sensor.. and there all chewed up........ still drive perfect.. has never made a noise.......

but i called ford about the warrenty and i guess there going to look at it monday.. ... for now i added some cheap coastel 75w140.... and hopefully i can drive it to work all week ahha.....

 

Ouch.. I can't believe I wasn't slipping or grinding on you.

I wouldn't try driving it - it'll be that one moment when you're going across an intersection with oncoming traffic that it'll chose to die..... butttt, I can't say I haven't limped a 4wd home using just the front axle before.

 

That sucks man. Was the old fluid still in pretty good shape?

Fluid was beyond shot... i think the speed sensor came apart and thats what has messed up the spider gears.. i cleaned up everything the best i could added the oil and everything still seemed find... but we will see monday.. when the stealership trys to come up with a way it was my fault

 

well...ive drove it all weekend.. even pulled my boat to the river to do some fishing friday... and its still been fine..haha......

You're a lucky ****. I'm assuming that your ring & pinion gears much still be in decent shape then.

 

I'm scared to check my diff fluid now.

When is the warranty up? I think I missed it. I'm at 63k. Bobkyle2 - What was the verdict from the stealership?

 

i just had the basic warrenty... witch ends at 60k...
