Looks like the shaft that holds the spider gears broke. I figured the bolt had come out but it was still in!!!! Wtf would have caused this???

Ouch. There also isnt a single gear that doesnt have a chunk taken out. Its pretty much all ruined except the axle shafts. Why does this truck have a 9.75 ring gear and some have an 8.8? Cheapest i can find as an assembly is 1400 bucks. Yay. What now?

The part of the shaft that the bolt is holding in... Wtf really!?!?!? Im stumped as to what happened. I was pulling a trailer at about 70 and was going straight when it blew.

If you can't find a assembly for under 1000 I would defiantly fix what you have. Take it to a good offroad shop and have a new ring & pinion put in with a Detroit truetrac limited slip carrier. And if you are 2wd I would go with a different gear ratio for sure and if it's 4x4 get a price on the front too and see if you can afford it. I would take advantage of the situation tho on the regear because of the tire size on it.

Cheapest assembly i can find is 1300 and its 2 hours from me. Ive rebuilt one rear end in college and remember it being a real pain in the ***. Im the type that hates to pay someone to work on my **** but at the same time i dont wanna tackle a gear swap. A complete axle swap is cake but jesus 1300 and thats with a core!!!! I just dunno what to do. Id love lower gears but dont wanna open the front one. Ford quoted me 1500 to do everything. Id rather burn it than take it to those idiots...

Where could i buy everything needed for a replacement gear set/bearings/seals? A shop here said he could do it but wasnt sure how much.

no problem man, thats a great website. if there is anything else you need check out Randy's ring and pinion heres a direct link to the 9.75 parts list. http://www.ringpinion.com/PartCats.a...4WD&DiffID=186 they are a great source for tech info as well.
