Default Radio Questions

Hello all,
New F150 owner, traded off 1500 Ram. More than happy, love it, as a matter of fact should have done it years ago. A few questions if you don't mind...

How hard is it to take out the stock radio? The stock radio is sirius, I'm a xm type of guy. Would like to pull it out replace it with a after market xm. Next question, do I have to change the sirius radio antenna thats in the roof? If so how hard is this to do? Or should I just suck it up and get use to sirius?
Thanks for your help, a ton of good info here.

as far as pulling the radio out, that's not a tough job. take ya a couple hours to remove and install the new radio. I would just cut the cord at the end and splice on the correct end. I think they use different connections for sirus and xm. that way it still looks factory.

to the site Catccdude
You have to remove the trim panel around the radio first, then the four screws for the radio and it'll come right out. Real easy, I just sent you a pm. As far as the antenna I don't have a clue. Maybe you could get lucky and find an adapter that'll make it work.

I would not cut the antenna, I belive it uses a VERY small coax cable, that will be near imposiable to "splice" back together.

Default antenna wire

Talked to xm and crutchfield tech support and both came back with the same answer. The antenna is different xm picks up both sat and repeaters on the ground. Where as sirius only picks up sat signals thats why sirius cuts out more. From what crutchfield tells me at least.
Big question is do i just forget the stock antenna and put another one on, I sure would hate a leak in my new truck.

Thanks for all the help, looking forward to picking your brains more and more as I add to the truck...

take the stock one out, and use the same hole for the new one.
