Default Question for guys with Edge Programmer

Did the Gotts mod today on my 07 4.6L SuperCrew. Returned the Edge to Stock Program and disconnected the negative battery terminal for 2 hours while doing the mod. Reconnected the battery and fired up the truck, got a message on the display saying HEX not found press enter. Did that and drove for about 20 minutes in stock mode to re-calibrate the MAF. then programmed it into Level 2 (my usual program). No codes or troubles, just wondering if I should start from scratch and reprogram the whole tuner. Would I have seen an error message on the screen or did it automatically recover my hex code? Thanks

For future reference, there's no need to return to stock for the Gotts. Disconnect the neg cable and that's it. You probably plugged the programmer in before putting the key into the ignition the first time. This causes the Edge not to communicate before you turn it on and show no HEX.

No. Initial program showed HEX. Should I reprogram?

No don't reprogram. It wouldn't have programmed and saved the stock tune if it wasn't communicating with the PCM.

You have to disconnect the edge every time you get out?

I don't disconnect my obdII bluetooth dongle. I just leave it plugged it.

You'll have massive pinging. Even if you retard the timing a/f trims will be way out of line, the fuel curves will be off, and you'll ruin your engine in time.

No not every time. You disconnect it when you unplug the battery to avoid any problems. If you don't touch the battery leave it plugged in and don't think about it.
