Programmer doesnt have cat back option, problem?
Throwing some parts on my stock 04. Started with edge evolution cs programmer. Picked up K&N CAI, AFE cat back. The programmer has the option to tune for the K&N, but I'm told you cannot tune it for the cat back...
Can this be custom tuned for the cat back? Should I just return the cat back and stick with what works? Will not tuning it but installing it anyways cause problems as it will be running leaner or out of sync?
Whats the deal with this Gryphon company, are those downloads still available or any good? will I run the risk of failing smog checks (we need them every year in Vegas)?..
Havent had much experience with truck mods, only work on quads and dirtbikes in the past, any advice would be great.

In regard for tuning for catback, you don't need to, nor will you see a performance increase. It is mainly for sound. On a stock 04, you would get more from removing the rear set of cats than a catback.
Catbacks are more or less for looks/sound. I've not seen a single dyno that shows any performance gains.
What setting are you using the tuner on?

I just installed it yesterday. Drove on level 1 & 3 (91 oc). Noticed better throttle response, but it also stalled out on me a couple times on both levels. Got a trouble code for the idle. I felt this needed some attention before the programmer, it's really obvious now. Did some research and it sounds like cleaning the TB and IAC should take care of this. I'm going to get into that and install the CAI next week, then test out the different settings from there.
I called Edge about the cat back earlier yesterday, they mentioned it could lean out the fuel... I'm not planning on getting much more than sound from it, I just want to make sure I'm not harming the truck by putting it in and not having it dialed in.

Cai not even in yet... Programmer only, truck was stalling yesterday again on level 1 tranny only tune. Trouble code p0506. Tune back to stock, check engine light went off, it drove great. Rethinking modding the truck after this, I've never had an issue until I plugged that programmer in...
I use an SCT tuner and before I did the blower and everything else, I had no issues.
That code comes back as Idle Air Control (IAC) System RPM Lower Than Expected

Is the idle RPM lower at idle after the tune? Is there an option to increase the idle speed in the tuner?
I wouldn't get so discouraged so quickly, let's find out what the problem is, and fix it

I'd clean the throttle body. Use only throttle body cleaner and a toothbrush, it works well. Don't use carb cleaner, and be gentle with it. When I put my programmer on it was giving me trouble bc the throttle body was dirty. Its worth a try

That's a good spot to try. I just did mine. The cleaner removes a lot just by being sprayed on the toothbrush gets the rest. It's pretty simple and straightforward.
