4x4 problems!
In northwest ok and a blizzard came thru yesterday, was out in the snow in 4hi everything was fine. Got stuck in some ruts put it in 4lo tried rocking it a bit heard a clunk and now it's stuck in 4lo heard spinning in the hub and front tires won't spin. Any ideas? Shafts are intact and all looks fine when I did a quick look over.
Failed to mention its a 05 FX4. This morning it will go into any position 2wd 4hi 4lo, but 4 wheel still won't engage. Ill go through the 4x4 diagnostic thread I just found later. Was just hoping someone had some input. Thanks!
I am in the same boat to a T- I replaced driver side hub and actuator, have correct vacum, have replaced soelnoid but in 4x4 low or high i am not getting the fronts to turn. I am replacing the passenger side this weekend and I will post back. It feels like its locked in but may not be enaged 100%. if it is not that it's got to be the T.C. Clutch. I get a grinding that feels like its in the T.C. when I am in 4 low and shift to park. After our monsoon in florida is over I will no.
I hear everything engaging and locking in and it took a while for mine to come out of 4x4 low also. Just go throught p,r,n,d, a couple times then set in neutral, it should come out. I think all of the electrical indicators have to line up just right to say ok im not moving go back to 2 wheel drive to the PCM and 4x4 or ABS module. Still learning on this one.

Is it that hard to change them out? Mine will go into all 3 now with ease but the front just won't engage. At work now so hope this weekend I can tear into it. A friend told me to go with Warn hubs if I have to replace them, said about half the price and lifetime warranty.
I don't know if warn makes our hubs, check Rock Auto, best pricing so far I have found. $189 for hub and actuator shipped. had a 5% discount code. was 198.00. No where near the same as a standars Warn manual locking hub. I will no on Saturday for sure.
My bad, my friend must have been thinking of a model year older or something. Once the snow clears I will be able to get into my garage (my house is on a slope) and check everything out. IWEs that hard to replace?

Not at all basic hand tools up to a 21mm, the lower strut bolt is a 23 or something bigger check out the thread on the IWE, its a sticky someone give a tool list. If you think you need struts or ball joints that is the time to do it. I am doing hubs, ball joints upper and lower and IWE actuators. have one side done and broke one of my pistons on a caliper so add that in took about 5 hours with travel to parts house. That was taking my time and replaced everything.
