Default Power Windows Without Key

Hello, Is there a way to raise and lower the power windows without using the key in the ignition? My truck is a 2008 F150 standert cab. Thanks in advance.

I disagree... I bet you could easily run a hot from the battery to the switch and remove the switchable hot, therefore having power window/s all of the time...

Thanks for the replies, jhelrey do you know if I would need just one power lead to the drivers side for both windows? Thanks

Factory no, you can wire it to work, not sure why anyone would be hacking wires in an 08 though why would you want the windows to work with no key in the ignition, i'm curious ?

The reason I want this is because my truck sits in my driveway in the sun. In the morning I open the windows because of the heat from the sun. In the evening they get closed again. Day after day it becomes annoying to always put the key in the ignition and turn it to the acc. When there is a sudden rain and I forget to bring the key with me, very annoying. If its just one wire to run that would be an easy fix. If anyone knows please let me know, Thanks

Being that you can control both windows on the drivers side, I say yes, one wire. You may have to split it once in the door, but I don't know. I am guessing there is just one power going to that switch, as well as one going to passenger.

Trace it for the hot wire using a voltmeter, and run a dummy wire from your battery to the switch, turn the truck off, key out completely, connect the wire, and see if it works. If it does, hard wire it.

I have never done this so I am speculating off of my knowledge and handiness. I will help anyway possible.

Buy some window vent visors and you can leave your windows cranked down just enough to let the heat out, but the rain won't get inside. Beats doing the funky wiring trick. I' got the tapeless ones that fit into the window w/strip and love them.

Oops-being in NJ these may be illegal-I've heard a few states hate them.

Believe it or not it's one of the few things that aren't,or at least I have never got a ticket or failed inspection cause of them. I don't know I agree with atom on this it seems like alot of work and risking the wiring system for a minor inconvenience

getting another key made and toss it in the cupholder, problem solved. i honestly don't know if it would be a good idea to have power constantly running to the regulators.
