That thing under the spare tire is the fuel control module and I've already replaced mine ($103). They go bad frequently but fortunately are easy to replace. The new one comes with shim bolts to hold it off the frame. I guess it's supposed to stop it from rotting (at 45K). We'll see!

6 quarts? Nope thats not right.

If you have the larger rear end its 3.5 quarts. The manual list it in pints, thats where the confusion is, i believe it is 6.9 pints in the book.

The 8.8 is the smaller size which calls for 5.5 pints, so you'll only needs 3 quarts and you'll have just enough left over to wonder what the hell to do with.

Don't forget the 4oz friction modifier if you have a traction lock axle.

If you do a search there is a thread that tells you how to find out, i don't know myself.
But if you use a premium fluid you won't need it anyway, Mobile 1, Royal Purple. Although some have rear ends that are touchy and still had to add the modifier.
