Hahaha gotta love idiots right?! I don't think I've ever stomped the gas in this truck just to do it, I definitely like to take care of her.... especially since it's the first vehicle I've ever owned on my own and responsible for all maintenance!

I'm assuming Performance is 87 and Extreme is 91 or 93? My custom tunes are going to be 87 Performance 87 Tow and 93 Performance since we don't have 91 octane here in SC...
I figure the custom and canned tunes would all be written for the same gas but custom written for certain mods.

They are different octances actually. Like you said it differs from where you live because some places dont have certain octanes (like you). For me around here in MA its usually 87, 89, 91. You get the custom performance tunes and tow tunes in certain octanes. You can get 87 performance (as what I ordered) or 93 performance. This also applies to the Tow tunes as well. The 93 performance I hear is the best one you can get (power wise) but I have no need to pay an extra 20 cents extra per gallon for gas to get that little power boost.

Yea I don't see myself using 93, but since I didn't just want 87 Performance and 87 Tow I figured why not? I might try it once but who knows....

Yea, turns out my only canned performance tune is for 91+ octane, and there's only economy and tow for 87, Bill at PHP said it was alright to use the 87 tow canned tune while waiting on my custom ones so I guess I'll be testing it out, it's uploading now....

I wouldn't worry about it either. You'll know if something is wrong and you can look up with your tuner and see which codes are being thrown. The reason for the custom tunes when dealing with an intake is to fix the lean issue so that being said it doesn't matter if you use canned or no tuner your truck could run lean because you have more air than fuel in the mixture so go for it. Just be sure to use the correct octane the tune is set for.

The custom tunes wake up the truck a ton!! I went from 31" tires to 33" tires with 3.55 gears and felt no difference at all, just change the size in the tuner an you are good to go!!

You said it is brand brand new? You might have to hook it up to your computer first to update it...that might help. 30mins to program? thats nuts...wayyy too long. I would say hook it up to your computer and see if there are firmware updates for it. I would say there is.
