You can adjust for your tires and it will give an accurate MPH display. Make sure the Evo was reset by the PO before buying it though otherwise it will be locked.

Oh awesome, thanks for that. I will make sure...
What can I expect performance wise from the evo? Not expecting an mpg increase (although I heard it can) I'm mainly looking for a nice kick once in a while off the line. I can feel a lag comparing this truck to my stock f150 I had before.

I too am looking at getting an edge evo. I've got an 04 4.6 with a 6" lift and 35's, it definitely is a dog lol. I know I need to regear here sometime soon and I'm sure that'll give me some power, but how much really do these things help? Are the stock tunes going to make a difference? If not, who makes custom tunes? This is all new to me really, but I'd like to see a slight increase in mpg if at all possible, and certainly some more get up and go. Thanks guys!

Stock tunes are typically nothing to write home about when it comes to gasoline engines, especially after you have used a custom tune. You'll find when you go to order custom tunes, they will ask specifics about your truck, such as tire size, aftermarket exhaust, aftermarket intake, etc. After having that information, they can write up a tune that optimizes that particular setup, from both an economy and a performance standpoint.

I bought mine through Power Hungry Performance for around 50 bucks per tune if I recall correctly. For me, they were well worth the money.

I see their website says they no longer do custom tunes for the cs or cts programmers, so does that mean I have to pay $75 to upgrade to the gryphon and then pay $60 for each custom tune? I'll gladly do it if it's really that great, any input?

Yes, that's correct.

I bought the pre-converted Gryphon from them several years ago thinking I would get custom tunes later. I never bothered, and could have just bought the regular Edge.

I've done several tests with the three canned tunes and never got any mileage improvement, regardless of any claims. I tried pure gas, 10% blends, 87 and 93 octane, for multiple (3) tanks per test, and carefully monitored actual mileage with paper and pencil. Mileage was always the same as before the tuner. Pure gas, 10% ethanol, 87 or 93 octane, my truck got the same mileage regardless of the type gas it used.
**The tuner displays exactly 2 mpg better than actual mileage at all times. That is after properly setting tire size and gear ratio in the tuner.** Wierd... I just subtract 2 from the readout.

On the plus side;

Throttle response is much better than stock. Shifting is much less lethargic than stock.

I usually leave the tuner on the #2 setting (trailor tow). The 93 octane tune does perk the engine up a noticable amount, but not 50 cents a gallon worth.

Are you running any custom settings?

Everyone needs to read through this:
https://www.f150forum.com/f4/edge-evo-settings-65340/

No word of a lie I am getting an extra 4 MPG on the highway and 2 MPG in the city... level 2, custom settings obviously.
