Default Painted emblems the cheap way!

Well guys got a little bored over the weekend and decided to do something with my old faded ford badges. A can of plastidip, some paint thinner, a box of q-tips and a whole lot of patience! Let me know what you guys think!

Looks like you did a nice job of keeping the letters clean. That is a real pain to do, I tried for a similar look more than once and failed. I bought new badges for about $20 each and was happy lol - be very careful if you ever remove that tailgate badge, it sucks

Looks good, I just did the same thing basically only I bought a 6" red ford decal off ebay for $4 and put it over my black plasti-dipped emblem. Looks great to me. So under $10 for an emblem as opposed to $60-$70 some are coughing up.

Thanks guys it kept me occupied and productive for a little while. The grill badge wasn't as bad since I easily unbolted it and removed it. The tailgate was a little worse since I just left the badge attached to it, I wish y'all could've seen my ole ladies face when she got home and I had my tailgate sitting on the kitchen table working on it!

Hate to wake up and old thread but I finally got my inlays in and plastidipped my f150 badges so now they look exactly the way I want them!

You done an awesome job on your emblems! I tried to duplicate with no luck. What's the trick to removing the dip from the lettering? I tried the Qtip with paint thinner and it didn't work out to well

It's a slow tedious process man but it's all about patience. I actually used goof off instead of paint thinner (pretty much the same properties but a little more potent) it's all about taking your time buddy.
