Default Okay the dreaded cab corner issue.

Today I was tuning up my truck clean the throttle body it was filthy and the mass air. My coil packs didn't arrive today so that's a project for a other time, chasing a jerk/buck in overdrive. Okay enough of that, I was going over my truck notice a few bubbles in my paint on the lower pass rear cab corner the drivers looked alright with a very small bubble. I push in the pass corner it feels decently strong but does have a few good bubbles forming. I filled the cab corners up/the spot welds and noticed the pieces of sheet metal split idc leaving a big hole ( what a dumb *** idea) anyways I drill a small new drain hole down in the bottom corner where a door mates the cab to give water a new drain access and to let air get in there to dry it out and to give me a access point for rust prevent and destroying spray. Plus when the pass rear door is shut it will give the hole protection from dirt and water. I hit it with some flex seal to protect outer edges of hole from rusting. Noticed the plastic that goes around the rear fender wells is rusting along the spot welds too I hit then with spray as well. Any one have any other fixes to slow down rust ect?

Can't at the moment it Christmas and I'm sure both corners with labor is 2k plus. I will see if my redneck fix stalls it for a bit.

Once it starts there is no slowing it down. You can buy new cab corners for around $100, cut out the old and Weld in the new. That is the ONLY way to fix it!

IF you try that you are only gonna screw yourself down the road when you get it fixed the proper way

I got to make it hold out till spring when I get my work bonus. Just need to stall it over winter. The drill hole I made won't effect any thing. When the old one gets cut out the hole will be with the cut out piece. What keeps it from doing again once new Corners are put in?????. Had to do what I did for time being

There's no saving the cab corners now.. The hole won't do squat either.. The cab corners are inundated with water from the back cab seam. Water rolls off the roof down the window and into a wide open seam at the back of the cab.. The sunroof drain also pours into this location..

Also, if you have a leaking third brake light this will also contribute to the rot.. I got it too.. Screw cab with sunroof and it started from the backside and bubbled through the paint. Both my corners need to be welded at this point..

I've contacted ford about this problem and all I heard back was crickets.. It's a common issue with crew cabs, and extremely common with sunroof equipped models... It's without a doubt a design flaw and Ford doesn't want to acknowledge it..
