calls for motorcraft synthetic blend 5w20. it is a good oil at a good price. make sure and use a motorcraft filter fl820s. do not use regular oil. use blend or full synthetic.

I have been using the Ford oil and filter every 5k since new. Most WalMarts carries both

105k and no cam phaser problems.

I'm not sure what filter the 4.6 takes, it's been a while since I've bought one (too damned cold to do the oil changes myself outside, and the truck doesn't fit in the garage!).

The oil, however, is the same.

Your 4.6 takes 6 quarts of 5w20 synthetic blend and the fl820s filter.

Just be aware that there are 2 different filters on the 4.6. Best thing to do is take the numbers off of the one that's on there.

The 4.6L in the 04-05s had 2 different blocks, not sure whether that continued later in the run or not.
