Default oil pump replacement on 5.4l 3v question

I had a bad cam and follower on the passenger side of my 2004 lariat 5.4l 3 valve. I was concerned about the phaser bolt I put in so I re-did the bolt a month later. I was getting ready to close it up and found the one chain loose and after opening it up a broken or cracked guide! Since I am going to replace the guides, tensioners, chains and gear I see in the kit 2 black plates and a o-ring it looks like. Do you have to pull the pan to replace the pump and is there a pick up tube that is an issue or how I guess do you replace it and is it worth it?

Here are 2 links, could I get some thoughts on these from anyone? Can anyone tell me what the round o-ring (not the crank seal) is for and what are the black plates for.
Would anyone of you consider buying from these places or would you only go to Ford?
Thanks for any help or thoughts .
Don

Does that pump use the factory pick up tube?
