Default Odometer display backlight replacement

Is it just me, or does replacing a #74 bulb (correct me if I'm wrong) for a odometer display seem a little ridiculous for all screws and connections you have to unplug and disconnect? Opinions, not sure whether to break into this project or not on my 2007 STX.

I have no backlight on my 2006, I'm debating the task myself, hoping for some good feedback myself.

Thanks...

It's really not that bad to get to. Though I might have felt that way because I'd just finished a complete timing overhaul - a few panels and connectors was child's play compared to that!

I did it on mine. It really isn't very hard and I'm not really that mechanically inclined. Took me, maybe, an hour when I did it. I was super careful too.

This will show you how simple the repair is.

Finally got it, seemed like a lot just to change a bulb IMO but that won't keep me from doing the job. I used a 7mm socket, panel popper, flathead screwdriver in place of socket wrench extension and a T9 torx screwdriver (which seemed a little small for application but still worked). I purchased #74 long life bulbs about $5 at autozone. Bulb looked exactly the same as stock one and I kept running into different part numbers for it.

Go do it. Just keep cool, take your time, and be careful. It seems a bit daunting but it's not bad if you take it slow.

Did mine a couple of years ago. Not bad to do at all. Just be careful and take your time.
