Default No reverse!

Was out playing in the snow last night, went to put my truck in reverse and will not go into reverse. the lights come on but back tires wont spin. any ideas?

How hard were you playing in the snow. Snow and ice are hard on tranny.

nothing crazy, never got stuck, goes into every other gear fine.

few possibilities. toasted ur tranny, sometimes they dnt go in reverse. 2 ford has selenoids in their trannys and one of those could have got moisture in it . jus a few ideas

If you have snow packed around the tranny it can stop it from shifting into gear

Another possibility is the shift cable being melted. The 05 I had did this while 4 wheeling at the dunes. No reverse because the inner cable came through the melted outer sleeve. How it happened, was the cable came off of the clip that holds it away from the exhaust manifold. It was real fun driving home 400 miles trying to avoid going into reverse while maneuvering a trailer at rest stops and such. In order to get it into reverse, was to have someone hold the brake while I climbed under and shifted it by hand. Worth a look see.

hmmmm ill have to check that out in the morning, i hope its something small thats broken, buying a new tranny would suck.
